Fast, Simple And Very Impressive!
The DM1000 Frozen Concoction Maker is the second tier in the Margaritaville line of frozen drink makers and it is definitely a move up from the entry level Bahamas margarita maker. There is no question that the folks at Margaritaville built this machine to party, first by doubling the ice reservoir capacity and then by adding a fully automated drink selector. If you’re like most folks though you’ll be tempted to look at the Key West as just a glorified blender and in reality nothing could be further from the truth though.
It’s almost like having a new power tool!
When you first unpack your new Margaritaville DM1000 you’ll be struck by the stoutness of the product. In addition the power supplied by this machine will almost make you think you’ve just purchased a brand new power tool. As the blades whirl shaving the ice and the blender automatically mixes the ingredients to shear perfection, you’ll simply stare in amazement. This is the type of machine that someone like Tim the Tool Guy would really appreciate.
What’s been added to the DM1000?
Earlier I said that the DM1000 was the second tier in the Margaritaville line of frozen drink makers and you may be asking yourself “What makes it different than the Bahamas model?” Well first of all the ice capacity has been increased and a number of new features have been added that aren’t on the Bahamas unit. Below is a short list of those improvements.
- The ice reservoir of the Key West has been increased to hold enough ice for two full pitchers of any frozen drink recipe you may want to create.
- In addition to the shave/blend toggle that is preset on the Bahamas machine a drink selector dial has been added that allows you to decide whether you are making 1, 2 or 3 drinks this time around. The quantity of ice required for each setting will automatically be shaved into the blending jar.
- A shave n blend toggle switch has been added that really puts the magic into this machine by making it all automatic by simply flipping the switch up. The machine will take care of the drink creation process from there.
- The drink progress indicator has been changed to a decorative line of shark fins that light up in succession, indicating drink progress, as the machine goes through its paces.
- The blending pitcher has been changed to glass and the machines housing is now fitted with stainless steel accent trim to make it even more of a show piece than it already was.
- The push button on/off switch has also been replaced with a ready/stop rotary switch.

Read more ... » concoction maker is a great little machine and most of its success comes from the fact that it is an ice shaver along with being a true blender which means you can make it do double duty for your normal blending needs. The shaving is what allows you to achieve the restaurant quality drinks that the machine capable of and takes a load of the blender by not having to chop ice cubes.
