A Blackberry Margarita With a Hint of Carbonation.

Margaritas have to be one of the most versatile adult drinks around. The sheer number of variations possible in the recipe is sometimes mind-boggling encompassing everything from the classic Margarita to all sorts of frozen variations. You’ve got to admit though at some point in time you’ve thought this drink would be great with some carbonation. That’s where this sparkling blackberry Margarita comes in with its great fruity flavor and a little kick of carbonation to boot.

Blackberry Margarita IngredientsSparkling Blackberry Margarita

  • 2 ounces of blackberry simple syrup (See Below)
  • 1 ½ ounces of Respado tequila
  • 1 ounce of triple sec or Grand Marnier
  • Sparkling sugar (Red or White)
  • 4 ounces of Canada Dry Lemon/Lime Seltzer Water
  • 1 well chilled 10 oz wine glass
  • Lime wedges

Blackberry Simple Syrup Recipe

  • 1 cup of blackberries
  • 1 ½  cup of sugar
  • 2 cups of water

Blackberry Simple Syrup Mixing Instructions

See video here.

Create the simple syrup by mixing the syrup ingredients in a pot, bringing it to a boil and simmering for 5 minutes. At the end of 5 minutes remove from the heat and allow it to cool completely before proceeding. When cool pour the mixture through a wire sieve covered with a fruit bag (available at your local grocery store) to remove the solids and then pour into a plastic squeeze bottle. If you want clearer syrup then pour it through cheesecloth after the wire sieve.

Blackberry Margarita Mixing Instructions

Prepare a margarita glass by wetting the rim with a lime wedge and dipping it into a plate of sparkling sugar.

Put the tequila, triple sec, 2 ounces of blackberry syrup and ice into a shaker with ice and shake until the outside of the shaker begins to frost over. Pour the 4 ounces of seltzer into the wine glass and then carefully pour the syrup mixture on top. Drop in an ice cube and serve with blackberries on the side.
